India is reeling under a horrifying second wave of Coronavirus, which has killed thousands of people. Many lost livelihoods as there are lockdowns imposed in many states. This pandemic also impacted Oldage Homes, Orphanages & other Homes which run on donations.
We support more than 60 homes every year by sponsoring monthly groceries under Sai Aadhaar and also sponsoring daily food under Baba Prasadalay 365 initiatives. We organized a meeting with caretakers/decision-makers of all the homes we sponsor on 16th May 2021 and came to know that 16 homes are in dire need of groceries as the funds from regular sponsors/corporates etc are stopped/reduced because of the pandemic. We realized it is time for all of us to act and help the Homes struggling with daily needs for the months of June, July, and August.
Below is the list of homes identified and the rough monthly budget and for a total of 3 months (it varies depending upon home needs).
1. Beneficiary Details: Sai Ranga Vidya Sansthe (R), Mysuru
This home receives government aid and pays salaries to its employees. For the past few months, they have not received any government aid and were looking for support towards 26 staff members' salaries/
groceries. We decided to sponsor groceries worth ₹2,000/- per family. Our Mysuru coordinator Hariharan ji coordinated with the wholesale merchant, got a good deal, and arranged everything for the distribution. The total amount of sponsorship towards this request is ₹52,000/-.
Each grocery kit contains 15 Kgs of rice, 2 Kgs of Toor Dal, 1 Kg of Urad Dal, 1 Kg of Green Dal, 500 gms of Moong Dal, 2 Kgs of Owl Poha, 2 Kgs of Rava, 3 Kgs of Wheat Flour, 3 Kgs of Sugar, 1 Kg of Jaggery, 2 Ltrs of Oil, 1 Kg of Vermicelli, 500 gms of Tamarind, 1 Kg of Bansi Rava and 500 gms of Sambar Powder.
2. Beneficiary Details: Aaradhana Children Home, Visakhapatnam
Regular donors of this home stopped the donations and this home is in need of monetary support to purchase daily needs and groceries. We sponsored ₹20,000/- for the month of June.

Home purchased 150 Kgs of Rice, 15 liters of Oil, 20 Kgs of Toor Dal, 10 Kgs of Urad Dal, 5 Kgs of Groundnuts, Vermicelli, 5 Kgs of Kabuli Chana, 25 Kgs of Chana Dal, 10 Kgs of Soya, 20 Kgs of Moong Dal, 2 Kgs of Jeera, 2 Kgs of Coriander seeds, 2 Kgs of Turmeric Powder, 1 Kg of Peas, 1 Kg of Black Pepper, 1 Kgf of Spices and 1 Kg of dry chilies.

The requirements of this home are different. This home takes care of special children and all the kids need protein-rich food and it costs ₹1,500/- per kid. Srinivas Garu who is the founder of the home requested support for 15 children which is ₹15,000/-. We sponsored ₹15,000/- for the month of June.

Mysuru is one of the badly affected places and there was a strict lockdown imposed which forced temples to close. Our Mysuru coordinator Hariharan ji received a request from local temples for groceries to 5 priest families. He coordinated with the wholesale merchants, got the groceries, and arranged for the distribution of worth ₹1,405 per family. In total, we sponsored ₹7,025/- for the month of June.
Each grocery kit contains 10 Kgs of rice, 1 Kg of Toor Dal, 1 Kg of Urad Dal, 500 gms of Green Dal, 500 gms of Moong Dal, 1 Kg of Flattened rice, 2 Kgs of Rava, 2 Kgs of Wheat Flour, 2 Kgs of Sugar, 1 Kg of Jaggery, 2 Ltrs of Oil, 500 gms of Sambar powder, 500 gms of Tamarind & 250 gms of spices.
10. Beneficiary Details: Saibaba Gurukulam, Chennai
This is the most affected home in the list we identified and struggling hard since the 2020 lockdown and 1st phase of Covid-19. We constantly supporting this home and decided to continue support during the current crisis too. We sponsored ₹50,000/- for the month of June.

As promised to the homes, we transferred funds to the Homes/Merchant bank account as shown in the below chart. In total, the sponsorship amount towards groceries in the month of June was ₹3,79,025 and the beneficiaries are more than 770.
We are getting ready to transfer fund towards July month groceries and the amount needed for the same is ₹3,98,000/-.
