Recently we have introduced a program 'SPONSOR A STUDENT' under Sai Akshar and sponsoring 825 students by paying their school/college/hostel fee or by providing school stationary.  We received contribution of INR 1,93,461.75/- so far i.e. sponsorship for 483 students and looking for sponsors for remaining 342 more students. Requesting each and every one to sponsor minimum 1 student by donating an amount of INR 400/-. Please note the amount you sponsor paves a way for the bright future of our future citizens and also you can claim IT exemption for the donations made to Sai Anugraha u/s 80G of Income Tax Act, 1961 (50% of amount donated).

Plantation Instructions

Dear All, Greetings from Sai Anugraha. 

Please find below the instructions for Location Selection, Pitting, Planting & Watering while doing sapling plantation. 

Planting Location Selection: (crucial for ensuring survival)

• Plant at least 2½ feet from the edge of the road and 2½ feet from a compound wall.
• Plant within a compound if possible. Else, ensure protection from animals.
• Plant near your house or where you can reach easily to water it daily.
• In common land like street,colony,etc.please ensure that someone agrees to water it.
• Ensure that the tree is not located below electric lines or above storm water drains.
• Ensure that the place does not get water logged for days together during rains.
• Ensure a gap of minimum 10 feet between two trees (especially on road sides)
• Planting should not be in the shade of another grown tree.

Pit preparation:

• The dimensions of the pit are 1.5 feet x 1.5 feet x 1.5 feet. The pit is dug much more than the root size in order to make the soil porous to retain more water and facilitate root growth.
• Ensure that the dug out soil is preserved as it is required to fill the pit again while planting.

Lifting:

• Please lift & carry the plant carefully by holding the plastic packet. 
• Do not lift by the stem.

Planting:

• The plastic cover should be removed carefully using blade or knife such that the clump of soil is not broken (This decides 70% survival of the plant).
• If roots are grown out of the packet, the root protruding out needs to be carefully pruned before planting.
• The dug out soil from the pit should be mixed well with compost and filled back into the pit. 
• Compost or earthworm compost could be purchased from horticultural shops.
• Dig out the pit for about 9 inches or enough to immerse the entire root and soil clump into the hole. 
• The entire soil clump should be immersed under the soil. Ensure that the stem is straight and not slanting. If required a small stick may be provided to support the stem.
• After closing the pit, compress the loose soil around the clump by hand to ensure compactness.
• Create a basin around the pit of about 1 foot radius for better watering.
• Important: Mulch the seedling with bio mass after planting ie. spread a layer of dried leaves or dried plant material around the base of the stem for a thickness of about 2 to 3 inches.

Watering:

• While the seedling is in the plastic cover, water  twice a day with a mug or bottle to ensure that the soil does not splash out of the packet.
• After planting, water immediately and thereafter, water once every day. Just half a bucket will do. Even the water used to rinse utensils is adequate.
• After 6 months, water once in two days.
• Avoid over-watering to ensure that the root growth is robust and the plant's resistance to heat is better.
